The story:

Northspec Built was founded in 2020 with a simple goal: build products we'd actually be proud to put on our own trucks.

Alex started this business at 19, while working as welder/fabricator on contract at an armored vehicle manufacturing facility. In other words, he was bulletproofing Cadillacs.

Back then, lead times in the truck accessory industry were rough, and it seemed like every delay or quality issue came with another excuse. Alex saw an opportunity to do things differently by taking ownership of every part of the process and standing behind what we build. 

Having built trucks since getting his driver's license, starting a company around that passion had always been the dream.

Like many small businesses, the journey wasn't a straight line. To fund equipment and keep the business moving forward, Alex had to head out into the oil field on the service rigs as a roughneck, to build up some capital, building Northspec Built on his days off. After jumping back and forth through difficulties and to be able to purchase equipment, he was finally able to commit to Northspec Built full time. Since then, his wife Anna has joined the company, and together they've grown the team to keep up with increasing demand.

Our growth:

While more companies continue to outsource manufacturing, powder coating, fulfillment, and other parts of their business, we've been focused on the complete opposite: bringing as much as possible in-house. Having control over the process allows us to maintain our standards for quality, improve lead times, and make sure every order leaves our shop the way we'd want it to.

As we've grown, we've continued investing in our own capabilities. In 2022, we learned how to do all of our polishing in-house. In 2025, we brought powder coating under our own roof. Every step we've added gives us more control over the quality of the products we send to our customers.

Northspec Built didn't begin in a large facility with a team of employees. It started in a rented house garage with an idea, countless late nights, and a willingness to learn. Today, we've grown into a manufacturer operating from our own shop and shipping truck accessories all across North America, but the way we approach our products hasn't changed.

Our mindset:

Every product starts as an idea. We design it, prototype it, test it, make changes, and don't release it until we're 100% happy with it ourselves. We care about the little things: fitment, finish, durability, and making sure what shows up at your door is something we're proud to put our name on.

We're truck enthusiasts before anything else. We spend our days designing new products, answering customer emails, packing orders, fixing equipment, making mistakes, solving problems, and doing whatever it takes to keep moving forward. Building a business isn't always glamorous, but we genuinely enjoy what we do.

Since our beginning, Northspec Built has been featured on numerous SEMA Truck Show builds and influencer vehicles, growing the social media following and reputation day after day.

Today, Northspec Built ships thousands of truck accessories across Canada and the United States each year, with every product still designed and manufactured to the same standards that started the company.
